Importance of computer in education system Essay The computer and its related technologies are now such an integral part of every day life that it must be an ingredient in educating for participation in present and future society. For educators it is a tool for lesson preparation: research information on any topic find activities to print and use gather ideas used by other teachers for presenting lessons using word processing, page layout and presentation software to produce activity pages and audio/video lesson presentations The internet in particular keeps teachers up to date when they join in on forums and blogs about teaching practices etc. Online courses are also available for adding to teaching credentials. (This is a boon for those who are not living close enough to a large city centre where classes, conferences and meetings can easily be attended. ) For students, access to computer (and in particular internet technology) at school can be a great leveler. While most students are comfortable using the computer, those who do not have one at home are at a disadvantage for completing assignments that require research and producing a printed document. The Purpose of Education Essay -- Education Schooling

What is the purpose of education? What do we seek from it? How does it better our lives? What is the role of public schools? These are all important questions, but first I am going to give a brief summary of the text by Timothy McMannon entitled The Public Purpose of Education and Schooling. McMannon gives the reader plenty of reasons for why we need education and how it helps us and our society; he starts by explaining that in past cultures schooling was not done in a formal school but in â€Å"the community, the family, and the church† (McMannon 1). Some cultures even believed that education was something that took a lifetime. The essay then progresses into explaining how education has evolved through the centuries into what it is today and why it has become what it is. Everyone has his or her own take on what they believe education is and should be. Your parents could think of it as a day care facility until you get to high school and then they might think of it as a place to earn a degree and soon move out. Your grandparents might think of it as a place where you go to learn things that you aren’t going to need in life because they never did. Political leaders may think of it as an economical advantage over another country. The list goes on, but as a student, I believe that there are many purposes of education; it is more than one thing, but many things that combine into what education really is. One role of public schools is to promote the principles and standards of our society, which have been all but forgotten. Today we presume that school is a place where we go to learn history and mathematics, but it is much more than that. Schooling teaches us what our leaders are too busy to explain. By this, I mean that our teachers... ...u never acquired anything from becoming educated, why would you continue with it? In part, â€Å"education must be practical† (McMannon 8) and we need to recognize that. Works Cited Fulghum, Robert. All I Really Needed to Know I Learned in Kindergarten. How to Make Someone Like You

How to Make Someone like You You may wonder why someone is always able to turn the spotlight on themselves and make others under their charm. Are they born to be attractive? Or do they have magic power to remain popular? Actually, attention can be shifted to the word â€Å"LIKE† itself. It consists of four parts, â€Å"L† representing â€Å"listener†, â€Å"I† coming to â€Å"interaction†, â€Å"K† referring to â€Å"kindness† and â€Å"E† standing for â€Å"excuse†, which are qualities of great significance to make someone fond of you. To make someone like you, you should try to be a good listener. That means giving ear to different opinions when you disagree with other people on a certain matter. You should appear to be patient and friendly. Do not argue, but discuss. Make efforts to exchange your ideas and show respect towards others’ stance. In addition, avoid being talkative and stubborn when expressing your pe rspective, which will definitely arouse others’ disgust. What you should always keep in mind is that do not allow disagreement to disrupt your relationship. To make someone like you, you should maintain a good interaction with others. It requires you to seek the same interest. If you have the same interest, you are bound to find a lot to say, which is conducive to liven up your conversation. If you have the same interest, just invite someone to join you in some activities, seizing the precious opportunity to know each other, to help each other and to appreciate each other. If you have the same interest, savor it and treasure it to strengthen your bond. To make someone like you, you should show your kindness. Smile is the basic expression of kindness. A smile is a magnet which closes your distance. Smile at someone and you are sure to get a smile in return, which will make both of you feel at ease.Sometimes, just a smile can make a difference. On top of that, you should be will ing to offer help. It is obviously an effective way to show care for others as a warm-hearted person. They can sense your goodwill and gratitude will swell their hearts. By the way, occasionally you could ask for help to make others feel valued as well as promoting mutual trust. To make someone like you, you should learn to excuse others. It is inevitable that everyone has its own shortcomings, which will be magnified if you get closer. Under the circumstances, you need to control your temper and try to forgive them. Moreover, you should spare no efforts to find others’ shining points. Do not take a one-sided view and attempt to be free from prejudice to everybody. After all, you need to like others if you want them to like you. You may find it difficult, if not that hard, to make someone fond of you. However, it is not realistic to expect everyone to like you. What you should do is to treat others genuinely. Tactics may help you be welcome in the short run, but sincerity is t he everlasting way to satisfy others, to move others and to let others accept you heartfully.

Department Of Education s Website, And Reading Painful...

Introduction A quote by Judith Lewis Herman, world-renowned psychiatry professor and author: â€Å"In order to escape accountability for his crimes, the perpetrator does everything in his power to promote forgetting. If secrecy fails, the perpetrator attacks the credibility of his victim. If he cannot silence her absolutely, he tries to make sure no one listens.† Since 2011, federal investigations of more than 7% of US colleges have been opened due to suspected Title IX violations. Why should we, as college students, worry about this? Only 16% of the cases have been closed, and because of the wide reach of culture, even our own community is affected by what takes place in these far-off universities. I am not only a college student, but a female, so I have a personal stake in these investigations. So I have dedicated days to reading the U.S. Department of Education’s website, analyzing BYU’s website, and reading painful story after painful story of sexual assault. The way BYU handled the sexual assault was almost worse than the assaults themselves, and because of their conduct, I now believe that BYU discriminates against its female students who report sexual assault. To convince you, I will first define Title IX and the institution’s honor code, followed by two main arguments. Lastly, I’ll refute a defense of BYU’s actions.
